Sable doré, vagues chaudes et baleines à l’horizon — des vacances balnéaires sur les côtes du Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is an island with two coastlines and no off-season: while one shore takes its monsoon, the other basks in sunshine, so there is always a beach at its best. That simple fact makes the island one of Asia's most rewarding beach destinations — and one of its most varied.
From December to April the classic south and west coasts shine: the reef-calmed swimming bay of Unawatuna, the whale-watching harbour and golden crescent of Mirissa, and the long resort strand of Bentota with its gentle river safaris. From May to September the spotlight swings east to Trincomalee's powder-white Nilaveli and the laid-back surf town of Arugam Bay.
What sets a Sri Lankan beach holiday apart is everything within an hour of the sand: blue whales at dawn, stilt fishermen at dusk, a 17th-century Dutch fort for golden-hour ramparts, turtle hatcheries, mangrove lagoons and seafood grills that set their tables directly on the beach. Mix a week of coast with a few days of hill country or safari — the island is compact enough that nothing is far.
Every itinerary is private and tailor-made, with your own chauffeur guide, hand-picked beachfront stays and the flexibility to linger wherever the water is bluest.
